Following the birth of my daughter and while in the role of mentor and life-coach at Authentic Action, I decided to walk my talk and allow my heart to take center stage.  

 

I have always been drawn to the arts and experimented with various mediums until 2008 when I discovered the art of silversmithing.  I undertook formal training in contemporary jewellery design and upon completion, launched Forge-Jewellery.  I have not looked back and remain enamored with what has become my bliss: designing and creating wearable art.

 

My creative process is both structured and organic, allowing for perfect imperfection to arise and erupt from each unique item.  Upon inspection, you will notice subtle tool marks deliberately invited to remain on the finished piece.

 

Like me, the themes and aesthetics of my work are ever-changing.  I remain open & curious, pulling inspiration from the innate beauty of my surroundings. It is not unusual for a design to reveal itself to me as work begins - the raw material, inspiring a vision and awakening the shape & identity already held within.  

 

Most Forge-Jewellery designs are truly limited-edition.  It is the birthing of each new object as well as playful experimentation (read unpredictability and trial & error)  that challenges and brings me joy!

Born in Waihopai/Invercargill and raised in Otautahi/Christchurch, I divide my time between the bench and the Social Profit Sector. I live with my two favourite humans, Tāne and Saffron (whom I laugh with and annoy in equal measure), and am carefully supervised by our loyal furry companion, Cody.
